Santa Cruz FAQ
What does it cost?
Floor area, how much detail is inside (a simple cottage drafts faster than a house with built-ins and several additions), which deliverables you want and travel. Point cloud plus 2D CAD is the lowest tier; a Revit model adds drafting time. Quotes are itemized line by line.
Is it worth bringing you in from out of town?
For a single small room a local measure-and-draw service may cost less. ADS pays off when the building is irregular or has grown over the years, when you need Revit, or when you want the point cloud itself so any dimension can be pulled later without another visit.
How accurate is it?
We scan with Leica RTC360 and BLK2GO scanners and Matterport Pro3 and draft from the point cloud, so dimensions are measured rather than assumed, including sloping floors, settled foundations and roof lines that are no longer straight.
Does the building have to close?
No. Homeowners stay home and shops stay open; the Solana Beach mall was documented with tenants trading. We schedule around your day.
Will the drawings work for my permit?
Yes. Your architect or engineer uses the set as the existing-conditions base for a submittal to the City of Santa Cruz Planning and Community Development Department, whose Building & Safety Division at 809 Center Street issues construction permits and performs plan review. Unincorporated areas around the city are permitted by the County of Santa Cruz Unified Permit Center. Our job is to make sure the existing conditions in the set are right.
Can you document a house for an addition or ADU?
Yes. We scan the interior, the exterior envelope and the immediate site, so the set shows setbacks, wall heights, roof pitches and floor levels together, which is what the design and the review both need.
Who owns the files?
You do. CAD, PDF, Revit and the point cloud are delivered to you and your consultants.
