Norfolk FAQ
What does it cost?
The price is set by floor area, how much detail is in the space, which deliverables you order and the trip to Norfolk. Point cloud with 2D CAD is the base tier; a Revit model adds drafting hours and is listed separately. Each line is itemized so you can remove what you do not need.
Is it worth bringing you in from out of town?
For most buildings, yes. The scan is a short site visit, so travel is a modest single line, and the drafting happens remotely wherever the property is. Several Hampton Roads properties scanned on one trip share that travel line.
How accurate is it?
Dimensions come from a Leica RTC360, Leica BLK2GO or Matterport Pro3 point cloud rather than from a tape, so the drawing shows what the scanner recorded in the building.
Does the building have to close?
No. The technician works around tenants, staff and customers during normal hours, and after-hours scanning is available if that is easier for the occupant.
Will the drawings work for my permit?
Yes. Your architect or engineer uses the set as the existing-conditions base for a submittal to the City of Norfolk Department of City Planning, whose Building Permit Team works from the Development Services Center at 810 Union Street and issues building permits through the city's E-Permit Portal. Norfolk requires a permit for any alteration, addition or new construction that adds new framing or exposes existing framing. The design professional carries the permit; we supply accurate existing conditions.
Who owns the files?
You do. The point cloud, CAD, PDF and Revit files are delivered to you and to anyone you designate.
