Escondido FAQ
What does it cost?
Floor area, complexity, deliverables and travel. An industrial space with a dense MEP network, like Thornmint Court, costs more to model than an empty retail shell because there is more to draw. Point cloud and 2D CAD is the base; Revit adds time. Every quote is itemized.
Is it worth bringing you in from out of town?
We do not have an Escondido crew; travel is listed on its own line. Rancho Bernardo, where we scanned in 2025, is the neighbouring community, so the trip is one we have made.
How accurate is it?
Measurements come from Leica RTC360 and BLK2GO scanners or a Matterport Pro3 and the drawings are drafted from the point cloud. At Thornmint Court the LiDAR was millimetric, which is what made the conduit and equipment modeling reliable.
Does the building have to close?
No. One technician works through the building around staff and operations; after-hours scanning can be arranged.
Will the drawings work for my permit?
Yes, as the existing-conditions base your design professional submits. Escondido's Building Division at 201 North Broadway accepts plans only in electronic format and allows roughly 30 calendar days per plan-review cycle, so having the existing conditions right the first time saves a round. Applications filed on or after January 1, 2026 are reviewed under the 2025 California codes.
Who owns the files?
You do. CAD, PDF, Revit and the point cloud are delivered to you and your consultants.
