Durham FAQ
What does it cost?
Floor area, the amount of detail in the space, the deliverables you order and travel. A point cloud with 2D CAD is the base; adding a Revit model adds drafting time. Each quote is itemized so you can drop items.
Is it worth bringing you in from out of town?
For a full building, a multi-tenant property or a Revit deliverable, yes: one scan visit captures the whole structure and travel is a minor line. For one small room, we will tell you honestly.
How accurate is it?
We draw from a point cloud produced by a Leica RTC360, Leica BLK2GO or Matterport Pro3, so every dimension is measured on site rather than taken from older drawings.
Does the building have to close?
No. Tenants, staff and customers carry on while we scan; after-hours visits can be arranged.
Will the drawings work for my permit?
Yes, as the existing-conditions base in your design professional's submittal. In Durham, permits, plan review and inspections for both the city and the county are handled by the City-County Building & Safety department at 101 City Hall Plaza, which enforces the North Carolina State Building Code and accepts digital plans through its Dplans system. Your architect or engineer files the application.
Who owns the files?
You do. CAD, PDF, Revit and the point cloud are yours to share with anyone on the project.
