DeKalb FAQ
What does it cost?
Four things drive it: floor area, interior complexity, which deliverables you order and travel. Point cloud and 2D CAD is the entry tier; adding Revit adds drafting hours. The quote is itemized line by line.
Is it worth bringing you in from out of town?
Yes for most jobs. Travel is a single line item and the scan is a single visit; the drawings are what your consultants work from for months afterwards.
How accurate is it?
The drawings are drafted from a registered LiDAR point cloud, not from field notes, so dimensions are measured. Glass, polished floors and other reflective surfaces are handled on site by adjusting the scanner per area.
Does the building have to close?
No. Offices, shops, labs and apartment buildings stay open while the technician works around occupants.
Will the drawings work for my permit?
Yes. They are prepared as the existing-conditions base for a renovation or tenant build-out application. In DeKalb that application goes to the City of DeKalb Building Division at City Hall, 164 E. Lincoln Highway, which accepts permit applications by mail, email or drop-off. Your architect or engineer submits; we make sure the existing conditions are right.
Who owns the files?
You do. CAD, PDF, Revit and the point cloud are delivered to you and whoever you name.
